Politically correct crime coverage obscures facts
The takeaway line in Thursday’s AP report on the unprovoked slaughter at a Marine recruiting center and another U.S. military facility in Chattanooga —- resulting in the killing of four Marines and the wounding of two others, and one police officer —- was this lunacy:
“Federal authorities said they were investigating the possibility it was an act of terrorism.”
Brace yourself. Next we’re told shooter Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez, 24, the Kuwait-born gunman, who came to the U.S. in 1996, is a naturalized American citizen. After all, America only takes in the best the world has to offer.
Abdulazeez had posted these menacing “jihad” messages on his blog days before the attacks, yet was not on an FBI watch list. “Every one of them fought Jihad for the sake of Allah,” the post reads. “We ask Allah to make us follow their path.”
Still we are told federal officials have yet to announce a suspected motive in the attacks. His high school yearbook quote, “My name causes national security alerts. What does yours do?” might have raised a red flag or two. He was known to have traveled to the Middle East.
But political correctness reigns and as a result, innocent lives continue to be lost.
We’ve been down this road before. Just a couple of memory refreshers:
When Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan, a military psychiatrist and devout Muslim, shouting “Allahu Akbar” or “Allah is greatest,” opened fire slaughtering 14 and wounding more than 30 others at Foot Hood in 2009, Obama administration officials classified the massacre as an act of “workplace violence.” This, despite Hasan’s assertion that he shot his victims in defense of Taliban leadership and called himself a “Soldier of Allah.”
Alton Nolen, 30, an Oklahoma man who had recently converted to Islam in prison, changing his name to Jah’Keem Yisrael, went on a violent stabbing spree at the warehouse where he was formerly employed. He beheaded a female worker and attempted to decapitate another, screaming Islamic phrases as he committed the grisly crimes. The women had declined his offer to convert them. His rampage was also classified as “workplace violence” rather than terrorism, by an all too submissive, politically correct media.
The latest phenomenon is the lack of reporting the illegal status of criminals.
Miguel Angel Maldonado, a 14-year-old is accused of driving drunk, running a red light and causing a crash that critically injured four people, including a toddler, in Phoenix. The victims had to be cut out of their vehicle. Maldonado, who was not injured, will be tried as an adult. The daily reports he’s facing four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in the near-fatal crash. If Miguel laid off the sauce, and decided instead to study, he’d qualify for tuition breaks.
The new normal is abnormal.
