BBC Complaints: “no criminal charges have been brought against Dr Ahsan” – “We will not correspond further”
BBC Complaints has responded here to my stage 1b complaint regarding apparent breaches of international humanitarian law by BBC One presenter Dr Saleyha Ahsan.
I shall appeal as directed, noting the observation of Jakob Kellenberger, former Swiss president of the International Committee of the Red Cross:
“It is forbidden to expose prisoners of war to public curiosity… and the essential thing is to make clear to all parties that PoWs should not be exposed in any form”
The reply further states: “Your concerns relating to Panorama: Saving Syria’s Children have previously been considered by the BBC Trust and will not be revisited here”. My concerns may be visited here.
BBC objects to “defamatory” headline
Following its recent partial upholding of my separate complaint regarding the unacknowledged swapping of footage between two transmissions of a report about the 2013 Syria vote, the BBC’s Editorial Complaints Unit contacted me objecting to the “defamatory” headline which had originally been given to an article about the development published on the website Global Research.
I have responded here, also querying why I had not been advised on appealing the ECU’s decision in respect of the matters of BBC editorial policy and practice which it had not addressed. The ECU’s further response is here. The BBC Trust Unit subsequently responded separately to inform me that it will be considering my request for an appeal.
In the meantime, Global Research has published the home page of my blog as a stand alone article.
