A gunman wielding an AK-47 opened fire on a French train today and wounded three people before his plot was foiled by two unarmed U.S. Marines, according to reports.

The suspect, a 26-year old Moroccan, was aboard a high-speed passenger train traveling from Amsterdam to Paris, the Associated Press reported. He opened fire with his automatic weapon before the two Marines stopped him.

The names of the Marines were not immediately released, and one of them was seriously wounded.

A second person was also serious injured in the attack and the third sustained minor injuries, according to reports.

The suspect was arrested and investigators with France’s anti-terror police are looking into the incident.
