(Before It's News)

When Kim Kardashian West weighed in on a recent mass killing, gun control groups were quick to celebrate despite the resulting twitter shootout.

Sandwiched between birthday wishes directed at Cara Delevingne and a close up of her eye makeup, Kardashian West fired off a series of tweets to her 34.5 million followers Wednesday night decrying how David R. Conley III, a convicted felon in Texas, obtained the firearm he is accused of using in the brutal murder of eight people, including six children, two of which were his own.

The four tweets included thoughts and prayers to the family of the victims then railing about how easy it is to purchase guns online without a background check.

This brought quick reposting by gun control organizations.

“Thank you, Kim for speaking out about our broken gun laws!” wrote Everytown for Gun Safety on Facebook while the Coalition to Stop Gun Violence in a similar post praised the social media personality for her leadership.

Feedback on the socialite’s twitter account, on the other hand, was much more aggressive with many, to include conservative commentator Dana Loesch, first calling out the Kardashian and then getting into a back and forth with Moms Demand Action founder Shannon Watts over the issue.
