Last week I wrote an article entitled “Was Portrayal of Amazon’s Dirty Workplace on the Ball?” I tried my best to paint an objective analysis of Amazon and its workplace, despite the rumor mill going around. I honestly believed that The New York Times was purposefully writing this article in order to get rid of its competition; Jeff Bazos owns The Washington Post.
Just a few days ago, I wrote another article entitled “Starbucks vs. Amazon: Which one has better values“. I attempted to get to the crux of why Amazon was being criticized so much. I examined its values and looked at how they were different from Starbucks, the winner of the best Human Resources policies of 2015.
But then I read Julia Cheiffetz’s article on LinkedIn (reproduced below)….and I thought to myself….there is a big problem than we are willing to admit. A couple of years ago, I too was a victim of harassment and bullying. One specific individual went out of his way to emotionally rape me because I was different. Unfortunately, it was my word against his, so no punishment was given by management. I ended up being the one whose name was being tarnished. I thereby relate to Ms. Cheiffetz’s story and am proud to curate it on my blog.
