Today is August 17th. According to the National Hurricane Center:
“Environmental conditions appear conducive for development over the next severaldays, and a tropical depression will likely form by the middle of
the week while the system moves westward or west-northwestward near
15 mph.
* Formation chance through 48 hours…medium…50 percent
* Formation chance through 5 days…high…70 percent ”
That's a pretty darn good chance.
In 2005, on August 23rd, Hurricane Katrina slogged to life near the Bahamas. The rest is history.
I fervently pray that this particular history never repeats itself.
Late August still makes me anxious.
