Tonight is the first night students are starting to appear back at Northern Illinois University. That translates to a lot of police and a lot of people drinking.
This was my first cop watch of the night and, as always, I stood far enough back to be courteous so as not to interfere with their investigation. When this cop finally noticed that I was filming, he went on the defense and asked me what I was doing. I invoked my right to remain silent and he replied with “that’s inaccurate.” When I approached his car to ask for his name he drove off, pretending he didn’t hear me address him.
Later throughout the night, the police were breaking up a party just up the street. When I arrived, the officer was standing nearby and said, “Oh, its this guy again.” When I realized it was him, I politely asked him for his name and badge number. He refused and in the process of doing so he insulted me by calling me “Mr. White Guy.” Wouldn’t it be interesting if the tables were turned and I called him “Mr. Black Guy”?
The officer is identified as Officer C.D. Price with the Illinois State Police.
