(Before It's News)

The tank busting A-10C Warthog isn’t the kind of warplane that you have to baby. In fact, it looks like it can land just about anywhere.

Although slated repeatedly to be replaced by such sexier 4th generation strike aircraft as the F-35, the venerable A-10, known lovingly as the Warthog due to its rakish good looks, is designed to do one thing: get the job done.

That includes being able to take off and land from what is termed “austere” strips. The Air Force says austere but what they really mean is “are you kidding me” strips that would send your shiny new multi-billion dollar stealth jets to the scrapheap.

Last week video, above, surfaced of A-10s from the 354th Expeditionary Fighter Squadron working from an abandoned Soviet-era base somewhere in Poland that looks like its only certified for local go cart races. After all, these days its good to let Moscow know you can still fed-ex an airstrike package to a random wooded lot in Eastern Europe if needed.

Then this week, video popped up of some hogs from the 75th Fighter Squadron, landing on a dry lake bed (read= all sand and no beach) at Fort Irwin, California, shown below.

We get the idea the A-10 could crash any party as long as you clear the driveway.
