Surviving the Special Forces underwater operations school (VIDEO)
The U.S. Army Special Forces, commonly known as the Green Berets, have their own Combat Diver Qualification Course, or CDQC, and it ain’t no joke.
The grueling six-week course at the Special Forces Underwater Operations School aboard Naval Air Station Key West, Florida trains active, reserve and National Guard Green Berets as well as Rangers and select West Point cadets in the Army’s dive training program.
Established in 1964, the self-sufficient Army school provides enough trained combat divers to have one operational detachment, Alpha (ODA) dive-certified in each SF company.
Candidates train on the bubble-less Draeger LAR-V rebreather to conduct maritime infiltration, reconnaissance and demolition as needed.
Which are always good skills to have.
