W.Va. senator slams FDA for giving OxyContin to 11-year-olds

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.V.) is condemning the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) recent decision to approve the use of OxyContin to treat children as young as 11 years old.
In a letter to the FDA’s acting Commissioner Stephen Ostroff, Manchin said he’s “disgusted,” and the agency should be “ashamed of itself for this reckless act.”
Manchin said there are 2.1 million Americans abusing or dependent on opioids and 44 people die every day as a result of prescription opioid overdose …. http://thehill.com
