The term “silent majority” is now, according to the left, a racist term Apparently, to members of the association for the perpetually offended “silent majority’ is a code for white people wanting the world to go back to the way it was years ago. These whites want to take their country back from those who are not white.
One person who in this day and age is not afraid to use the term is Devon Anderson, the district attorney for Harris County, Texas.
On Friday, a deputy with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office was executed. Darren Goforth, 47 was on duty and in uniform, filling up his patrol car at a Houston gas station. A man approached him from behind and shot him in the head. After Goforth fell to the ground, the shooter fired more bullets into the officer who was declared dead at the scene.
Even after such a horrific event, political correctness continued to run amok. A description of the shooter, along with a picture from a surveillance camera, showed a man that was clearly African-American. And although witnesses at the scene described the shooter’s race as well as the vehicle he fled the scene in, the description released was that of a “dark-skinned man” that describes anyone from a Pakistani to a Tamil to a white person with a deep suntan.
An arrest was made fairly quickly and Shannon Miles, 30, faces a capital murder charge. Suffice it to say, Mr. Miles is not from Pakistan.
Police then indicated although they had a suspect, they were seeking a “motive” for the crime. As if the motive was not easily ascertainable from what transpired. Goforth wasn’t shot because the shooter was trying to avoid arrest; he was executed simply because he was a police officer.
One person who was not afraid to use the now politically incorrect “silent majority” term was the district attorney for Harris County. Speaking at a press conference after the shooting, Anderson said,
“It’s time for the silent majority in this country to support law enforcement. There are a few bad apples in every profession. That does not mean there should be open warfare declared on law enforcement.”
Of course this open warfare against law enforcement has been clearly declared.
Miles has a serious criminal record that includes convictions for resisting arrest, evading detention and disorderly conduct involving a firearm. He is a violent and dangerous man.
The execution of Deputy Goforth came two days after the murder of journalists Alison Parker and Adam Ward who were gunned down while conducting a live on-air interview for WDBJ in Roanoke, Virginia. The shooter later shot and killed himself as police closed in.
The killer, Vester Flanagan, 41, was a former employee of WDBJ who was mentally unbalanced. According to Flanagan, he singled out Parker because she had made “racist” comments in the past. Flanagan considered her use of the expression “going out in the field” to be racist and directed at him because according to his twisted mind, she meant going out into the cotton fields. When an employee brought watermelon into the station, Flanagan interpreted that as making fun of blacks. He was a deranged man.
