10 News Outlets Corporate Media Doesn’t Want You to Follow
THE LONGER I HAVE BEEN WRITING… THE MORE I AM ASKED, “IF THIS WERE TRUE, IT WOULD BE ON FOX NEWS OR SOMETHING,” SO I THINK IT’S TIME TO ADDRESS THE PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM!
WHY IS ALTERNATIVE MEDIA SO IMPORTANT?

Does that sound familiar? That was Thomas Paine and Citizen Journalism! For more on “The Crisis” see below. That was before we had our state run soviet style propaganda that masquerades as “news.” How Stuff Works Writes:
Citizen journalism refers to any type of news gathering and reporting — writing and publishing articles about a newsworthy topic, or posting photographs or video of a newsworthy event — that is done by members of the general public rather than the professional news agencies commonly referred to as “mainstream media.” Citizen journalism has been in existence at least since Thomas Paine wrote self-published pamphlets like Common Sense that stoked the fires of independence in 1776 [source: Glaser]. But any conversation about citizen journalism in the modern age is mostly a conversation about the transformative effect of the Internet on the democratization of information.
Although not everything posted at The Un-Silent Majority is serious, there is plenty of it that is, and it’s not the type of information you find other places. The reality is, whatever your interests, In today’s day and age If you’re still getting all your news from the major media networks, that is about as intelligent as getting your news from watching WWF wrestling, only it’s LESS ENTERTAINING, and LESS INFORMATIVE than the WWF! At least as you read this, there will be no ambiguity on where I stand on the matter.
When it comes to “JOURNALISM,” or “NEWS,” there is a reason Fox News has more viewers than the other networks combined, and that’s because at least they make an attempt to let both sides of issues be heard on their various programs. Fox News used to have Glenn Beck and Sean Hannity, but Beck is gone, and other than Hannity, I don’t think there are any other “conservative” shows on Fox News. Even if there are ones I am not aware of, here is the point that other networks and Fox Haters miss: BOTH of those hosts make it known they are BIASED, and don’t profess to offer ”NEWS.” They offer “OPINIONS.”
The other “NEWS” networks, and their counterparts in print should burst into flames for even suggesting they are unbiased. Bias is only ONE of the TWO major issues with today’s media, and why there is more of a need than ever for citizen journalism and ALTERNATIVE MEDIA.
ISSUE 1: For the major networks to say they offer unbiased news is both patently false, and equally as offensive to ANYONE reasonably educated on the “FACTS” of whatever story is being presented. Agree with the network? Disagree with it? Both are Irrelevant. There are FAR more people in this country who are NOT informed of all the facts, and take the “OPINIONS” they hear on a “NEWS” network as “FACT.”
ISSUE 2: There isn’t a soul on any of the networks that reports anything NEWSWORTHY anyway!
Did you know in the 1983 there were over FIFTY different media companies in the United States? That meant increased COMPETITION, which lead to increased QUALITY! Today, those same 50 have been merged into SIX COMPANIES. Whether I agree or disagree with what I hear on Fox News, AT LEAST it’s different than the other networks most of the time. Try recording the primetime news broadcasts of all the other networks and then watching them back to back. It’s MADDENING! There may as well be ONE network, or TWO if you include Fox News, because the rest all regurgitate the exact same garbage.
With enough time or motivation, I’m sure I could make a case that in reality, there is only ONE ACTUAL media outlet in the United States, and it’s known as: WHATEVER GOVERNMENT APPROVES OF. That defies the heart and intent of the first Amendment and free speech. Thank goodness for blogging, podcasting, and all other forms of ALTERNATIVE MEDIA that have arisen with due to tot the advent of the Internet. With that said, here are some great alternative news sources.
You are not the only one who believes the corporate media works for the establishment to secure the status quo and shape false narratives — so we compiled a list of 10 independent news outlets that would prefer you think for yourself.
These days most Americans have lost faith in corporate-owned media outlets because they believe the institution of press protected in the first amendment no longer represents the people of our great nation.
For many, it has been challenging to replace the failed dinosaur media, which is why I’m writing this article for people seeking legitimate sources.
As everyone discovered earlier this month when Brian Williams admitted to making up false Iraq war stories, Fox News clearly isn’t the only outlet that has gone off the deep end in crafting a reality of their choosing.
If honest reporting is what you’re looking for, there are several established independent news organizations the mainstream media would prefer you never discover.
Here are 10 news outlets the corporate media doesn’t want you to follow:
The Anti-Media: One of the fastest growing news outlets in the world, last Fall the Anti-Media soared into the 25,000 most visited websites in the world. During anti-police protests across America, the Anti-Media consistently published articles on breaking police brutality cases and several of their original reports went viral on social media with hundreds of thousands of shares. Of course, each story had been featured by the Anti-Media days before the corporate outlets even knew what happened.
The Corbett Report: With over 1,000 episodes, the Corbett Report has most definitely earned their reputation as one of the hardest-working and most-trusted news sources in the world. The Corbett Report has uniquely developed their own team of investigative fans who research the most-requested topics. The information is archived and analyzed by James Corbett, who then turns the sources into an easy to understand video news report. Preferring to describe the service he provides as ‘open source intelligence‘, the Corbett Report has been a favorite of mine for many years.
The Intercept: Not long after Edward Snowden’s release of secret NSA documents, journalist Glenn Greenwald launched a new media project called the Intercept with Laura Poitras and Jeremy Scahill. The outlet is owned by First Look Media, a new project started by Paypal’s co-founder Pierre Omidyar. Compared to other outlets on this list, the Intercept is technically the ‘most corporate‘ — but the content released thus far has been packed full of exclusive data that the Obama administration surely doesn’t want you to read about.
Consortium News: Former AP journalist Robert Parry was among the reporters who exposed the Iran-Contra scandal for the corporate media in the mid-80s. In 1995, he founded Consortium News as the first investigative news magazine on the Internet. Robert believes the distortion of information is an urgent problem with millions of Americans brainwashed by the waves of disinformation coming from the mainstream media. Since the beginning of the crisis in Ukraine, Consortium News has consistently published fantastic articles investigating the situation — without the pro-coup, U.S. media bias.
StormCloudsGathering: If you’ve ever thought the corporate media was hiding something from you, you’re right, and you’ll absolutely love the hard work and fact-checking StormCloudsGathering puts into all of their videos. Amazingly talented at relating world events to a larger geopolitical agenda, I’m confident that whenever you start following StormCloudsGathering you’ll have a new found appreciation for the label ‘conspiracy theorist‘ . . . What ‘theory‘? SCG strategically uses sources only from the mainstream media for maximum credibility. Why has ‘critical thinking‘ been demonized?
Truth In Media (Founded by Ben Swann): A former local Fox anchor in Cincinnati, Ohio with 2 Emmy Awards under his name, Ben Swann has 14 years of experience working as a journalist in broadcast news. In 2012 he was the first journalist in the world to directly interview President Barack Obama about the Constitutionality of his “kill list”. Recently, BenSwann.com expanded to become TruthInMedia.com — boldly proclaiming the project’s commitment to journalism in its purest form right in the official title.
Mint Press News: An independent watchdog journalism organization, Mint Press News provides original reporting, in-depth investigations, and thoughtful analysis of the most pressing topics facing our nation. Their relentless coverage of U.S. foreign policy decisions always digs deep to divulge the influence of special interest groups, Big Business, and lobbying practices — and how those factors shape policies at home and abroad.
Russell Brand: Last year the corporate media was stunned to discover that famous celebrity Russell Brand had started his own video series called ‘The Trews’ to combat false narratives and educate the public on corruption worldwide. He toured the world speaking in support of his book Revolution and then made waves in the UK by dominating an interview with Newsnight’s Jeremy Paxman on the BBC. Possessing an elite vocabulary, unmatched confidence, other-worldly debate skills, and more than 9 million Twitter followers, Russell has suddenly become the megaphone of the global political awakening.
Media Roots: Founded by the former host of RT’s Breaking the Set, Abby Martin, Media Roots is a citizen journalism project that reports the news from outside party lines. Abby believes that just as the root system of a tree is more important that the tree itself, independent media is integral to the foundation and survival of a democracy. Graduating from San Diego State with a Bachelor’s degree in political science, Abby’s Media Roots regularly features exclusive podcasts discussing the latest world events with her brother Robbie.
Real News Network: Since 2007, the Real News Network has produced more than 7,000 stories that have amassed more than 100 million views. Produced in high-quality video via their YouTube channel, the Real News Network covers the day’s biggest stories while bringing underlying issues like racism and the need for workers’ rights into the spotlight.

If it’s quirky, fun, conspiratorial, or has to do with UFO’s, The New World Order, or Ancient Aliens, then this is the place you’ll find it. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the news for a change. The actual website is new, but all the stories can be found here. Eventually they will all be loaded into the new site.
