Multiple earthquakes, not just one, have hit Chile in the town of Illapel. One Chilean resident reports:

I’m Chilean and I live 3 hours from the epicenter (a city called Illapel), and aside from the scared people on the streets (I was downtown heading home from work) nothing else mayor happened, not even a power cut. We’re so used to this here that the we have earthquakess resistant structures and the people know what to do, is in our culture now (we learned the hard way in 2010). There’s not going to be a Tsunami, just a lot of violent waves in the coast, but the evacuation is part of the normal procedure. The only mayor problems are happening in the epicenter, Illapel, there’s one confirmed deceased person for now.

Another person in the area reported massive shaking:

50 miles from my house. Felt like the house was going to come down.. We have had several aftershocks so far..
