Alcohol, Cigarettes & Flamethrowers OK, but Having This Candy is a Felony Offense

Count on the United States government to legalize some of the most toxic and dangerous things on Earth, but get caught bringing a Kinder Egg through customs and you’ll get slapped with a heavy fine of up to $2,500 per egg.
If you go to the Kinder Website you’ll quickly discover that the United States is missing from the America drop down menu. That’s because Kinder Surprise Eggs, a brand of egg-shaped chocolate candies containing a toy “surprise” inside, have been banned in the U.S. since long before they were first manufactured in the early ’70s.
How can this be? That’s because the U.S. has had a ban on candies with embedded toys since 1938 when the Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act was law and cited to justify the embargo on Kinder Eggs. Because a toy kept inside a confection is just far too dangerous for children and must thus be embargoed from point of entry into the US.
Have you seen the size of the capsule holding the toy that is inside of Kinder Eggs? They wouldn’t even go down a horse’s throat they are so big. They are certainly far too large for a child to swallow, and is quite difficult for even some adults, let alone children, to open easily.
Now don’t get me wrong, the chocolate in these eggs is terrible as are the ingredients, so I don’t mind that it’s banned but that’s not the point I’m trying to make here.
To give you an idea how serious the Customs Border Protection (CBP) is about this law, they seized more than 50,000 Kinder Eggs every year from travelers’ baggage and from international mail shipments.
The product violates both Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations. As the U.S. government’s law-enforcement agency at the border, CBP is charged with enforcing the regulations of both agencies to keep safety hazards away from American consumers.

What about other safety hazards? How about the hundreds of toxic pharmaceuticals that the FDA rules are perfectly legal and acceptable to shove down children’s throats? What about food industry additives and colors that are a major cause of ADHD, asthma and cancer creating a toxic environment for our children’s health? Even medicines for babies and young children frequently contain these additives banned from foods and drinks and targeted at children under three years of age.
Alcohol, regardless of its type (i.e. beer, wine, liquor, etc) is a class A1 carcinogen which are confirmed human carcinogens, yet there is no problem allowing that into the country.
More than 16 million Americans are living with a disease caused by smoking, but no problems letting cigarettes in.
Even handheld flamethrowers, which can fire flames 20-25 feet from the end of the nozzle are legal to import in 49 states.
Prescription drugs are more deadly than street drugs. More than 36,000 people die from drug overdoses annually and most of these deaths are caused by prescription drugs. Give those the free pass for entry but stop all Kinder Eggs because they might kill a child???
Every year, painkillers such as percocet, vicodin and other opioids kill thousands. There has never been a recorded death directly attributed to Marijuana, but guess which one is illegal?
Billions of Kinder eggs have been sold around the world, yet there have been less than five fatalities in 40 years from them.
So we live in nation where it’s okay to put flamethrowers in anybody’s hands, puff toxic cancer sticks at will, ingest as much alcohol and as many drugs as people wish. But those Kinder Eggs? Evil. Land of the free? No. Home of the brave? No. Something else…definitely something else.
