A 20-year-old was sentenced to four years and nine months in federal prison for being an unlawful user of a controlled substance while in possession of a firearm, the Justice Department announced Sept. 15.

According to court documents, Elijah Devonn Oshay Morse, from Cedar Rapids, was arrested on an outstanding warrant on Dec. 4 for allegedly shooting at two people from a porch.

At the time of his arrest, Morse was carrying a loaded Smith & Wesson .357 revolver, a large wad of cash and 13 grams of cocaine, authorities said. During an interview with investigators, he admitted that the gun was his and that he smoked marijuana.
