The university students’ union organized the event after hearing-impaired history major William Sears said a professor refused to accommodate him.
He filed a human rights complaint after the professor refused to wear an FM transmitter, citing religious beliefs.
The student union’s director of advocacy Leah Robertson called for improved services, including a campus human rights office and an external review of what went wrong.
MUN President Gary Kachanoski has apologized for the incident and promised a full review of how accommodation procedures failed.
