Get ready for the Robot Revolution, that is set to see upto 1/3 of Brits UNEMPLOYED within 20 years! Thats the prediction coming from a former Cabinet Office adviser, co-author of a new book welcoming technological progress but warning professional jobs will be among those under threat from technology. This is something that we have discussed a while ago over on The Kev Baker Show, and we all came to the conclusion that although we agree that we should be having more time to enjoy life, the end result will be millions forced to feed for the nipple of the government. They want us dependent, the NEED us to be dependent on them, for that is the best method of control they have.
In The Future of the Professions, economist Daniel Susskind and legal expert Richard Susskind are calling for the creation of a national task force to investigate the moral constraints needed, as the roles of doctors and lawyers fall increasingly to intelligent machines.
“The professions are creaking – these increasingly capable machines and systems offer us a way to provide far more affordable access to expertise,” said Daniel Susskind.
“We are going to see more change in the next two decades than we have in the last two centuries in the professions.
“But there are tasks we might not want these systems and machines to perform. Medicine is a particularly acute example – we wouldn’t necessarily want a machine to decide whether to switch off a life support machine
Well, im pretty sure that Mr Susskind is well aware of this fact, but we should remind him just incase, about a machine from IBM called Watson. Now, this will literally decide when to switch people off because if you require treatment that the machine deems cost-ineffective for you, then watch out!
We best get a handle on just how self-autonomous we want our machines, and even more worrying is the fact that over 100 start-ups in the silicon valley are all geared towards bringing out their own versions of A.I.
We are not that far away from something that is literally straight out of Terminator.
Rise of the machines is all good and well, unless it comes at a cost of the fall of man!
