Your Facebook account has seen a decrease in friends? You can’t find anyone new to socialize with? Here are ten great ways to meet new friends and become a socialite:

10. IPFWorld.com

If you are okay with paying for your pen pal, I highly recommend the site. IPFWorld was founded in 1967 and since then have processed over 2 million pen pal applications. I particularly like this site because they ask you really detailed questions about your interests and the top countries you are interested in so they can match you up with the best person possible. This is definitely one of the best sites to find a friend in my opinion.

9. Meetup.com:

Meetup is an interesting site in my opinion. It is an online social networking portal that facilitates offline group meetings in various localities around the world. Meetup allows members to find and join groups unified by a common interest, such as politics, books, games, movies, health, pets, careers or hobbies. Whatever your hobby is, there is more than likely a meetup group for it and you can find other like minded people.

8. Gym:

Oh, I know, you want to do your workout, put those earphone buds on and blast your music away and then leave. But if you’re looking to find new friendships, the gym is a good place to find it. One way to do this is by taking a few exercise classes. Another way is to look for run or walks in the your neighborhood, which are often posted on the bulletin board. You could also break the ice in the steam room, if there is one available. The floor is all yours.

Couchsurfing remains one of the best platforms for anything a traveller may need: friends (permanent or temporary) to travel with, a place to crash and recommendations for the best bars, poetry readings and free open air concerts. All you have to do is build a profile, upload pictures and post a basic description of yourself. Provide a host profile for your particular location, if you wish.

Volunteer work can be another way to meet a ton of new people. One of my friends volunteers as a mentor in his Armenian community, and as a result he has met alot of other mentors and made some new friends. I volunteered at many of the networking events I’ve attended and as a result have met new people.

5. Take a class:

Even if you haven’t taken a course in years, you can always learn something new with a new hobby or language to learn. . Remember how it was so easy to meet people when you were in school? You can do so again. All you need is a great personality and a good conversation to break the ice.
