A draft resolution on raising the Palestinian flag at the United Nations is set to be adopted next week.

The measure is expected to garner a majority of votes in the 193-nation forum. Palestinian envoy to the UN Riyad Mansour says they have the votes and they are working to gather more. He says the act would give Palestinians the hope that the international community supports them to have their own state. Once the resolution is adopted, the UN will have 20 days to act accordingly. That’s when Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas will be visiting New York.
