SOTN Editor’s Note:
Something is very wrong with the way that Pope Francis lectures the Western powers on their respective immigration crises.  Whether it is the U.S. or the EU, the standard papal response seems oblivious to the root cause — WAR!  That cause is quite obvious to virtually every resident of Planet Earth; why, then, does the Pope routinely ignore it?

By repeatedly admonishing both America and Europe to open their doors to potentially millions of immigrants, the true cause of war is allowed to continue unabated.  Why doesn’t the Pope admonish the powerful NATO nations to stop the warmongering.  Each of the major military powers — the U.S., UK, France, Canada, and Italy — were involved with the destruction of Libya.  Why was the Pope silent about Italy’s participation in this unprovoked act of military aggression and illicit assassination of a head of state?

On 19 March, the deployment of French fighter jets over Libya began, and other states began their individual operations. Phase One started the same day with the involvement of the United States, United Kingdom, France, Italy and Canada.

The Pope has performed a profound disservice by not addressing the warmongering nations of the world.  Those criminal governments have received a free pass by so much papal preoccupation with immigration, instead of the cause of the ever-intensifying mass exodus.  By focusing on the self-evident consequences of so many unjustified NATO invasions, Pope Francis has shifted the public discourse away from these ongoing crimes against humanity.  Rather than prevent the next tragedy, he has encouraged the continuation of an unacceptable status quo.

That’s not to say that immigration is not an extremely grave and pressing matter.  It is, in fact, the most divisive and thorny issue on the planet today.  And, it must be dealt with post haste in the most effective and humane manner BY THOSE WHO CREATED IT.  After all, it is the same nations who prosecuted the wars which are now burdened by hordes of immigrants.
