Woman finds grenade, prompts evacuation when she brings it to local police department
One Vermont woman caused quite a scare Saturday after she found a hand grenade in her grandfather’s belongings and decided to turn it over to the South Burlington Police Department.
Authorities said, as a precautionary measure, the department as well as surrounding buildings were quickly cleared when the woman showed up with the device, which they were unsure whether was live at the time.
The bomb squad was then called in to do their thing and deal with the device in a safe manner.
Authorities ask civilians if they find a potentially explosive device, to not touch it or move it, just leave it alone and call the police.
