America has a cultural problem, not a gun problem.
On October 1, 2015, another shooting occurred, this time at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, Oregon. The shooter allegedly targeted Christian students and staff, murdering them if they failed to deny Christ.
“Are you a Christian?” he asked them. “If you are a Christian then stand up.” The faithful students stood. “Because you are a Christian, you’re going to see God in about one second.” The gunman then shot and killed them, and their lifeless bodies fell to the floor. According to the Guardian, he continued going down the line, shooting person after person.
The shooter was armed with a handgun, and had enough time to reload. In reality, there is not any type of “gun-control” policy that could have prevented this incident from occurring; however, this did not stop President Obama from placing the blame on Republicans.
Immediately after the shooting, Obama held a press conference at the White House.
“The majority of Americans believe we should be changing these laws,” Obama stated. “There is a gun roughly for every man woman child in America. States with the strongest gun laws tend to have the least deaths.”
President Obama went on to state that the United States needed to become “more like our allies” Australia and Great Britain.
Both Britain and Australia have virtually banned all firearms.
In Great Britain, after an elementary school shooting in Dunblane, Scotland, Parliament passed The Firearm Act of 1997. This ended the private possession of all cartridge ammunition handguns, regardless of caliber.
