Drone Defender rifle kills em with sound waves (VIDEO)
In the increasingly popular arms niche that is anti-drone warfare, Ohio-based Battelle has upped the ante with their Drone Defender.
Now lets get this out of the way first, while we are pretty sure they mounted the EoTech on backwards in the video pimping the DD (Double D?), it still is an interesting concept: a non-lethal gun that uses radio control frequency disruption technologies to scramble the data connection between the drone user and said pesky drone itself.
The end result (as depicted in the video) is a drone that falls to the ground to be quickly scooped up and nefarious hipster drone operator drives away all butt hurt and out $500 for his Phantom hobby quad copter.
In all, Drone Defender weighs about 10 pounds, has a 400 meter range, and can be ready to jam out with its sound waves out in <0.1 seconds.
Want to buy one yet? Well its awaiting FCC approval and the company’s website states, “This device is not, and may not be, offered for sale or lease, or sold or leased, until authorization is obtained.”
Talk about the fun police.
