Freecycle.org is a website that connects people who are getting rid of things with people who want them. For free.
Their mission is to build a worldwide gifting movement that reduces
waste, saves precious resources & eases the burden on our landfills
while enabling their members to benefit from the strength of a larger
community.
It is organized geographically. You join the group in your town and can
post about items you need and items you are giving away.
200 million tons of stuff, from computers to bathtubs, are saved from
the landfill every year thanks to this genius idea. And you will make
new friends!
