Real Clear Politics’ aggregated polls have made it the go-to site for political watchers. Today we focus on the GOP numbers and wonder when the candidates clinging to the bottom rungs of the presidential ladder will let good sense prevail and bid us a fond adieu.
Of the fourteen still in the race, those languishing below 3 percent need to man up and admit they haven’t the support to be viable in 2016. The departures of Mike Huckabee (2.9%), Chris Christie (2.6%), Rand Paul (2.3%), Rick Santorum (0.6%), Bobby Jindal (0.6%), Lindsey Graham (0.3%) and George Pataki (0.3%) will cut the roster in half and allow the candidates who have garnered higher levels of support to move forward — until the next cut. To date, only Republicans Rick Perry and Scott Walker have suspended their campaigns.
