Vice President Joe Biden might still be planning to take over for boss Barack Obama in 2016, but for now he’s apparently going to keep us all guessing.
The veep’s camp issued a statement on Tuesday afternoon that shut down all rumors that Biden would join Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders and others on stage in Las Vegas for Tuesday night’s Democratic debate (via The Huffington Post):
Vice President Joe Biden ended speculation that he would make a surprise appearance at Tuesday night’s Democratic debate by announcing that he would be hosting a high school reunion that evening.
“Tonight, Vice President Biden will host a high school reunion following which he will watch the Democratic debate at the Naval Observatory,” the vice president’s office said on Tuesday afternoon.
On Monday, CNN reporter Jim Acosta had tweeted a photo showing that the network was prepared for Biden to show up at the last minute:

Looks like podium 6 will stay put.
