The strategy that our government is able to parse all the intrusive and private data they collect on us is laughable. The data-mining practiced every day only seems to take worthwhile resources and time away from the strategies that should be utilized to fight terrorism.
All-pervasive surveillance and data mining are not appropriate tools for discovering committed criminals or terrorists. We taxpayers are throwing away billions on mass-surveillance programs, and not getting the security we’ve been guaranteed. More importantly, the money we’re throwing away on these useless surveillance programs is not being spent on investigation, intelligence, and emergency response: tactics that have been proven to work. The NSA’s surveillance efforts have actually made us less secure.
