Here is a list of ten untimely famous deaths as a result of animal attacks:
Joseph Slowinski was an American snake expert who was specialist in the study of venomous snakes. On September 11th, 2001, the day in which the United States was attacked by terrorists, while doing research deep in an isolated region of Myanmar, Slowinski was bitten by a juvenile multi-banded krait. He died 29 hours later after his team made several failed attempts to get him medical attention.
George Went Hensley was an American Pentecostal minister best known for popularizing the practice of snake handling (a rare, religious ritual). In 1955, he was bitten on his wrist by a snake; something that was not uncommon for him since he was bitten 400 times. After a few minutes, Hensley became visibly ill, experiencing severe pain, a discolored arm, and hematemesis. He refused medical attention and died the morning after the incident.
Martin “Marty” Feldman was a famous English writer, comedian, famous for his bulging eyes, which were the result of a thyroid problem. Feldman died from a heart attack (as a result of shellfish food poisoning) in a hotel room in Mexico City during the filming of Yellowbeard. The famous cartoonist Sergio Aragones was filming a movie nearby and when he introduced himself Feldman earlier that night, he frightened Feldman and may have induced his heart attack.
Patricia Wyman was an animal caretaker who was hired to take care of the wolves at the Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve in Ontario, Canada. She was an avid animal lover, including wolves, and participated in education programs and tours at the park before she was hired. In April of 2006, Wyman decided to go into the wolf enclosure alone without telling any of her supervisors. Her body was found that afternoon, but nobody knew exactly what took place or why she was attacked. She was found with her clothing ripped and multiple bite wounds. The wolves were ordered to be put down.
Jacques “Jacky” Boxberger was a track and field athlete from France who specialized in long-distance races. In 2001, Boxberger was vacationing with his wife and daughter in Kenya. While he was trying to film an elephant on a safari trio, the animal picked up Boxberger with its trunk, threw him against a tree and trampled him to death. Poor guy! Whatever happened to staying in your car and keeping hands and feet in the vehicle at all times?
Taylor Mitchell was a Canadian folksinger and songwriter. She earned fame with her debut album, For Your Consideration. The death came to her when she was merely 19 years of age. She was on a visit to the Cape Breton Highlands National Park when she was attacked by a number of coyotes there. Mitchell died soon after blood loss. The attack so shocked the coyote experts since the animals were thought to be wary of humans. Mitchell’s case was the first recorded killing of an adult by coyotes.
