BRIDGEWATER, Mass. —The female victim found dead, her body burned and left near railroad tracks Tuesday night in Bridgewater, has been identified, our news partners at The Enterprise reported.
The body was identified as that of Ashley Bortner, 30, of of New Jersey, according to a press release Saturday evening from the office of Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz.
Bridgewater Police received a 911 call at approximately 11:40 pm Tuesday night for a report of a suspicious vehicle parked and two people seen in the area of the MBTA railroad tracks at Oak and Crapo Streets in Bridgewater.
Upon arrival, Bridgewater Police discovered a fire burning on the west side of the tracks and determined that it was a human body burning.
Bridgewater Fire responded and extinguished the fire and the woman was determined to be dead.
State Police Detectives and Bridgewater Police have determined that this was a targeted act and not random and the public is not believed to be in any danger.
Additionally, the Bridgewater incident does not appear to be related to a burned body and car fire in Worcester on Wednesday night, the press release said.
