Charlie Sheen is expected to sit down for an interview with Matt Lauer on the Today Show on Tuesday, November 17, 2015, NBC press releases has disclosed. He will be making a “revealing personal announcement”. In the wake of the announcement, multiple tabloids speculated that Sheen would discuss his health during the live interview. No other information has been disclosed by NBC, producers of the Today’s show.
The actor has kept a low profile, with the exception of an active presence on Twitter, since Anger Management ended in December 2014 after 100 episodes. Though he appeared in a February episode of The Goldbergs, in which he reprised his role from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. The cameo was filmed in December, 2014.
The actor, 50, has long struggled with substance abuse and has admitted to soliciting prostitutes in the past. He was fired from Two and a Half Men in 2011 after becoming unruly and making threats against producers and his co-stars. He’s also been arrested several times for crimes that include possession of illegal drugs and domestic abuse. He’s purportedly been diagnosed with HIV and has confided in the help and support of his close friends. Now, he’s decided to go public about it.
