Call Flood Proving Effective (Bouncer Attack Update)
In an incident that occurred on the morning of November 7th, I was attacked by a bouncer at a local bar and eatery over a bill dispute.
The night of the incident, no arrest was made on the bouncer. According to police, they did not have sufficient evidence to make an arrest, claiming the basis was a lack of eye witness testimony and video evidence.
Since the incident, copblockers took to the phones and directed a call flood to the DeKalb Police Department demanding that action be taken against the assailant. According to Copblocker Severin Freeman, he was threatened with “terrorist charges” if he continued to call. He also stated that the police told him that based on the investigation, that “no charges were necessary”. A local man that was listening to the DeKalb Police scanner said that complaints were being made by radio dispatch in regards to the call flood.

I have called the police department and the district’s attorney multiple times, getting the runaround from both. The police telling me to talk to the DA, the DA telling me to talk to the police. I was finally contacted by Commander Jason Leverton who explained that charges may still be filed, however the investigating officer was off duty until Thursday and no action would be taken until at least that date. He was very professional and explained that the statute of limitations for such an incident was 18 months, and that charges may still be filed by the state when the investigative officer returns to duty. He said that the case would most likely be passed to the district’s attorney for review. This is a large step up from what was told to copblockers that “the investigation shows that no charges were necessary”. Within the hour, I was also contacted by Commander James McDougal of the DeKalb police Department explaining that “a lot of man hours are being put into this case” and that “investigating officer, Craig Woodruff used to be a detective” assuring me that everyone was doing their jobs appropriately.
CCTV footage was requested by the police from the establishment, however, I was told that there is no law that requires the restaurant to maintain the footage.
It would seem that due to the Copblock call flood, pressure is being put on the police to do their jobs, despite not liking me or what I do.
The video of the attack has been featured on Liveleak.com and has reached over 85,000 views since its upload on Sunday. Thanks to concerned citizens, and a free market review system (Yelp) the establishment’s rating has gone from three starts to less than one in just a weekend. Technology and the voice of the people has proven to be effective, despite the lack of action provided by police.
