“Degrade and Destroy ISIS”? Now Obama Says the Plan Was Always Just Containment
Ah, remember the days when President Obama announced his plan “to degrade and ultimately destroy ISIS“?
If not, here he is saying it right here over a year ago:
Remember? That’s why he just had to ask Congress for hundreds of millions of dollars? To comprehensively degrade and destroy ISIS?
Well, apparently now the plan “has always been” containment — always from the start, or at least, that’s what Obama just got done telling ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos in an interview last week.
Obama also took the opportunity to bemoan the lack of U.S. ground troops in Syria in sufficient numbers to “decapitate” ISIS’ command and control structures. Funny, Russia isn’t having too much of a problem doing just that. Then again, Obama promised we wouldn’t put “boots on the ground” in Syria, and U.S. boots have reportedly been on the ground there for at least five months now.
So, apparently what Obama meant by “degrade and destroy” is really… not degrade, nor destroy, but contain.
Someone needs to get the president a dictionary for Christmas.
Then again, back when Obama openly admitted the U.S. was training ISIL forces at a press conference back in July, no one seemed to bat an eye.
