Finger-to-wind Kyrsten Sinema casts her lot with GOP
So what do you do when you’re a liberal Democrat up for reelection for the first time in a newly formed swing distinct where registered Independents prevail and Republicans remain a factor? Ask onetime Green Party candidate turned Democrat, Kyrsten Sinema.
Sinema voted with a majority of Republicans, including the entire Arizona GOP delegation Thursday.
Forty-seven other House Democrats also jumped ship — voting to halt admissions and increase security checks on Syrian and Iraqi nationals claiming refugee status to enter the United States. With her vote, Sinema defied Barack Obama‘s veto threat.
The global threat cannot be ignored. Just this morning a luxury hotel in Mali, frequented by tourists, was the scene of yet another bloody rampage as Islamic terrorists seized 170 guests and staff in an ongoing hostage-taking that left at least three people dead and others wounded. The gunmen shouted the all too familiar jihadist murderous slogan, “Allahu Akbar!” meaning “Allah is greater” in Arabic.
H.R. 4038, the American Security Against Foreign Enemies (SAFE Act) passed 289-137 — just two days after it was introduced. The bill, which was taken up on the heels of this revelation, now moves to the senate.
Sixty percent (60%) of ‘Likely U.S. Voters’ oppose the settling of Syrian refugees in the state where they live, according to this latest Rasmussen Reports national survey. Just 28% favor their state taking in these unable to be sufficiently vetted Muslim “refugees.”
Seventy-seven percent (77%) of voters are now concerned that giving thousands of Syrians asylum poses a national security risk to the United States, with 52% who are ‘Very Concerned.’
It’s a good bet political extremist and once vocal open-borders proponent Kyrsten Sinema has more than a passing interest in these numbers. Her retooled political future could be determined by them.
