China’s Investments. In December 2013, China committed $6.5 billion for the construction of a major nuclear power project in Karachi. In May 2014, another agreement was signed to supplement Orange Line metro train project in Lahore worth $1.27 billion. In November 2014, the two countries signed 19 agreements related to CPEC. In addition, Chinese firms started work on six mega power projects in Gilgit-Baltistan such as Dassu, Phandar, Bashu, Harpo, Yalbo to tackle Pakistan’s energy crisis.

Quest for Warm Waters. Mindful of the under development of its western provinces which are its soft belly and ongoing Uighur movement, China wants speedy  modernisation of Xingjiang and other under developed provinces to bring them at par with eastern provinces. For the accomplishment of these dreams, China needs access to warm waters in Arabian Sea through Gwadar since this route to world markets is the shortest and the cheapest. In public outcry in Romania over corruption that allowed horrific nightclub fire, King Michael may regain throne for third time in his life ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ link ~ This is a collection of several stories and background information and photos.  My sources tell me that in the aftermath of this fire, which was the greatest disaster in Romania for decades, that people all over the nation took to the streets demanding the resignation of the Prime Minister and an end to the endemic corruption.  The PM did resign and the President says that a total change is needed in Romanian politics.  The last King of Romania, lives in a Royal Palace in Romania, as does his heir the Crown Princess.  Any total change is apt to see the old but respected King returned and perhaps the current President serving as a caretaker PM to clean up the mess!  Stirling  
Concerns that safety at the club was compromised because of corruption – a long-standing issue in Romania – have further fuelled public anger against the political elite. 

Hundreds of protesters continue to hold rallies in Bucharest. The demonstrations have now entered their sixth day.

President Klaus Iohannis has called for a “sea change” in Romanian politics in the wake of the government resignation. He attended a protest on Sunday night in Bucharest's University Square, and wrote on his Facebook page afterwards: “I told people to stay involved, that only together we can all make Romania the country we want it to be.“
