TND Editor’s Note: Following the events in Paris, social media is buzzing with speculation that this was a terrorist attack. That doesn’t appear to be the case. Preliminary reports and context suggest this is more likely gang related. Local TV station WWL-TV reported that shooting started at around 6:49 p.m. Eastern Time. A music video was being filmed at the park. It was reported that two gunmen shot into the crowd, and shots were heard coming from the crowd as the gunmen fled.
New Orleans Police now say at least 16 wounded in shootout between two groups in Bunny Friend Park in Nola’s Upper 9th Ward. More coming.
