Everyone deserves to play a prank or two on someone they know. It’s what we call being human and having a laugh. Unfortunately, some pranks go to far and have dire consequences as these 10 will show.
In January, 2010, heavy snow fall threaten to cancel many flights including those leaving Doncaster Airport and Paul Chambers wasn’t very happy about it. He took his grievances to Twitter, where he wrote “Crap! Robin Hood airport is closed. You’ve got a week and a bit to get your shit together otherwise I’m blow the airport sky high!” Oops! A week later, police showed up at his workplace with a printout of the tweet. Chambers was arrested under the Terrorism Act, interrogated and banned from the airport for life. Fortunately for him, he was cleared 2.5 years later when a judge ruled that the tweet was a joke and didn’t deserve that reaction.
Justin Carter was part of an argument on Facebook about a video game called “League of Legends” . The argument turned violent when someone jokingly called him sick in the head. Carter responded by saying “I’m f—ed in the head alright. I think I’ma SHOOT UP A KINDERGARTEN AND WATCH THE BLOOD OF THE INNOCENT RAIN DOWN and eat the beating heart of one of them.” A Canadian did not take the threat as a joke and called the police. Carter was arrested on Feb. 14, 2013. The case is still not closed.
Life in the fast lane is very stressful for people of all levels. Glenn Howlett was working happily though his stressful report when he received a memo informing him that the report was due 2 weeks earlier than planned. Receiving the memo while on holiday, Howlett quickly returned home, started to work on the memo and began to panic. Not much later, he collapsed of a sudden heart attack. He accepted that he was unable to finish the report on time and tried for an early retirement instead. It was at this point that he was informed that he was the butt of a prank gone wrong.
On the last day of high school in June, 2011, 18 year old Tyell,. Who happened to be an African American, zipped up his hoodie, put on some latex gloves and snuck into the girls’ bathroom with a mysterious package. Thinking that Morton was trying to bomb the school, officials evacuated the school and called the bomb squad to dispose of the box. It turned out to be a major overreaction – a box containing sex dolls. Morton was arrested and charged with institutional criminal mischief.
Paris Hilton is much more of a drama queen than we thought. Last summer she was part of a “PLANE CRASH” stunt. The stunt was prepared by an Egyptian production company, which offered different celebrities to get involved. Hilton was definitely shocked and was frightened for her life. She even threatened to sue the company for causing her PTSD.
Vitfil Atlason was just 16 years old when he pretended to be the President of the United States in order to get access to George W. Bush’s private line in 2008. He even got through to the President’s personal secretary, who told him that he should expect a call back. That is when the police arrived in his Iceland home asking questions. They wanted to know how he got the number. Atlason simply stated that a friend had given it to him when he was 11 or 12. The mystery now is – who is the mystery spy friend?
