As I quoted earlier, a “training exercise” was underway when the shooting started.

Now we have this from the LA Times (“San Bernardino shooting: Dramatic video shows police storming Inland Regional Center”):

“At first, Dorothy Vong assumed it was a drill — just like all the others at her work. At the Inland Regional Center, where she’s a nurse, the staff works with clients and parents of clients who are sometimes angry. They have active-shooter drills every month or so.”

So this attack happened to occur during a monthly active-shooter drill.

Fluid reports now suggest: 14 dead, 17 wounded; the attack occurred on one building among a cluster belonging to Inland Regional Services, a non-profit which offers social services to people with disabilities. The one building that was targeted has a conference center it rents out to groups, and today the San Bernardino County Health Dept. was having a banquet there. There were possibly three gunmen. They fled in a black SUV. No one knows who they are. They were masked, wore military gear, and carried “long guns.” One suspect is down after a gun battle. Another is still in the SUV. Unknown whether he is dead or alive.

“The call first came in at 10:59 a.m. of multiple shots fired from the area of 1365 S. Waterman Ave., San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Richard Lawhead said. The department’s SWAT team was training nearby and was suited, ‘ready to roll’ and responded rapidly, Lawhead said.”

Note: KTLA report updated at 03:29pm [PST], updated at 06:33pm [PST], December 2, 2015:

“The call first came in at 10:59 a.m. of multiple shots fired from the area of 1365 S. Waterman Ave. The Police Department’s SWAT team was training nearby and was suited, ‘ready to roll’ and responded rapidly, Lt. Richard Lawhead said.”

—Yet another mass shooting where, by chance, a training exercise was going on during or prior to the event.

San Bernardino, east of Los Angeles. Reports state several shooters in a cluster of three office buildings that employ 600 people, 20 victims down, and shooters apparently at large.
