Prosecutors in Montgomery County charged the legendary comedian with a second degree felony for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting a woman in 2004. Cosby, 78, is being charged in relation to the Andrea Constand case, in which Constand accused Cosby of sexual assault when she was an employee of Temple University.
Cosby did not comment to the media as he arrived at the courthouse Wednesday afternoon for the arraignment, the Washington Post reported:
Inside the tiny courthouse, Cosby said little as he surrendered his bent and wrinkled passport. When Magisterial District Judge Elizabeth McHugh asked Cosby if he understood that, as a condition of bail, he was to have no contact with the victim, he gave the judge a big smile and said, “yes.”
The comedian was also instructed not to Tweet or have any relatives comment on the victim.
Cosby’s bail was set at $1 million, and he was required to post 10 percent of that amount, which he did.
A preliminary hearing is set for January 14.
