Los Angeles Unified School District schools were closed on Tuesday after the district received a credible terror threat, KTLA TV station reported, citing school officials and police.
The threat was made to “students at school,” LAUSD Superintendent Ramon Cortines said at a press conference Tuesday morning. He said the ‘electronic threat’ was made against several schools in the district.
‘It was a message,” he said refusing to elaborate while the investigation is underway.
The schools in the districts will be searched through the day.
The decision to close all schools was made to be sure that every child and employee is “absolutely safe,” Board of Education President Steve Zimmer said.
Media reports said a news conference was expected on Tuesday morning.
