Defense Secretary Ashton Carter announced Thursday that the Pentagon will open all combat roles in the military to women.
During a press conference, Carter said the military must draw from “the broadest possible pool of talent” and the process of integrating women into combat roles must begin in the next 30 days.
The Defense Department will release more information soon.
