(Before It's News)

Micheal Bloomberg may not be running for President, but he is airing a message during Tuesday’s debate urging action to ban gun sales to those on the no fly list.

The half-minute spot, entitled “America,” will air in the Washington, DC area during the Dec. 15 Republican debate on CNN. The spot contends that suspected terrorists can walk into any gun shop, purchase a firearm and then,” walk into our churches, our factories– anywhere– and fire away.”

The rhetoric over prohibiting guns sales to those on the consolidated Terrorist Watchlist maintained by the Terrorist Screening Center administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation, proposed several times over the past several years, has heated up since an attack by terror suspects in San Bernardino, California that claimed the lives of 14 earlier this month.

“The day after the San Bernardino shooting – the deadliest mass shooting since Sandy Hook – the U.S. Senate blocked a bipartisan bill to close the Terror Gap that makes it easy and legal for suspected terrorists to buy guns,” said Everytown for Gun Safety President John Feinblatt in a statement emailed to Guns.com. “It’s time for Congress to put the safety of Americans ahead of gun lobby interests and support common-sense measures that will save lives.”

The legislation Fienblatt referenced as being bipartisan, the Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015, does not have any Republican co-sponsors in the Senate and an effort to add it as an amendment last week to a repeal of Obamacare failed in a 45-54 party line vote.
