(Before It's News)

A U.S. District Court is set to sentence a man Tuesday for his hand in the Boston Marathon bombing more than two years ago.

Stephen Silva testified during Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s trial that he loaned Tsarnaev a Ruger 9mm handgun some two months before the April 2013 bombing, the Associated Press reported. Tsarnaev reportedly told Silva he would use the gun to rob University of Rhode Island students and “kept coming up with excuses” for not returning the weapon.

The gun was reportedly linked to the slaying of MIT police officer Sean Collier several days after the bombings, in which three people were killed and more than 260 others were wounded.

Surveillance video of the bombings was released in March during the trial and showed Tsarnaev and his brother Tamerlan moving through the crowd along the marathon route on Boylston Street April 15, 2013, just before and after the bombs were detonated.

Among the dead was an 8-year-old boy, who was watching the marathon near the finish line with his parents and 7-year-old sister. The blast took much of the girl’s leg and “stole part of our soul,” wrote the parents in a letter published in the Boston Globe.
