The good backyard ballistics researchers over at the Wound Channel test the current 5.56×45 mm NATO M855A1 ball cartridge against a good ol’ $1.50 cinder block.

The lead-free M855A1 loading was adopted by the Army in 2010 and uses St. Mark’s SMP842 propellant, a standard No.41 primer and a 62-grain copper bullet with a funky steel arrow-head penetrator tip that is designed to have better yaw than the old M855 and the Green Tip before it.
