Man accidentally shoots friend while showing off gun
A 32-year-old Brooklyn man was charged with manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon following a tragic accident Saturday night that left his friend dead.
There are conflicting reports about whether the two men were neighbors or roommates, but authorities say Maciej Gorecki had a gun and was showing it off to Zdzislaw Golabek, 37. Gorecki put the gun to Golabek’s head and pulled the trigger, apparently not realizing the gun was loaded.
Golabek suffered from a single gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. Gorecki was later arrested.
Golabek’s family said the news came as a shock and that he was always quiet and never got into trouble.
