An infant born with severe deformities in Fallujah Iraq, allegedly due to the heavy use of depleted uranium by US forces (Image from documentary “Beyond Treason”
About a year ago I found my self in the Colorado Springs Airport. In the airport were three bright eyed young kids I would say maybe 19 or 20. I have the utmost respect for our soldiers that fight and die for our country for no good reason but for the fact the the United States is based on a war economy. Think about it we are always at war with some country so the military contractors can get rich and proceed down the road to depopulation. I was well aware at the time of what I am about to write about. The deliberate MURDER of United States service men. For no good reason but for the selfish agenda of THE POWERS THAT BE. I asked the three young men if I could join them they looked at each other and said O.K. So we talked they had just finished basic training and they had received orders to deploy to Afganistan. To guard the poppy fields. But they didn’t know that. They also didn’t know the effects of the depleted uranium amunition they would be using. It was a rather short conversation as I knew what the effects would be of the use of the amunition. Their flight was so they were off to catch a flight. I wished them good luck and a safe tour knowing the life they had known was over. I have seen many of my friends come back from Vietnam and none were ever right again. Over 1,000,000 servicemen are on disability for the most part for using depleated uranium shells and associated illness. Did you know that more soldiers commit suicide than have died in battle in Afganistan? This is what the Huffington Post has to say about the use of this multi generational killer.
Although Iraqi civilians have born the brunt of this awful weapon, American soldiers that served in the Gulf and Iraq War are also suffering from the fallout of depleted uranium. This issue is discussed in-depth by the Campaign Against Depleted Uranium, which campaigns to “ban on the use of uranium in all conventional weapons and weapon systems and for monitoring, health care, compensation and environmental remediation for communities affected by their use.”
Countries around the world have called for the ban of depleted uranium, but unfortunately this demand has fallen on deaf ears. When asked in 2003 about Iraq’s complaints about depleted uranium shells, Colonel James Naughton of U.S. Army Material Command stated in a Pentagon briefing that “They want it to go away because we kicked the crap out of the them.”
Last week, UK foreign secretary William Hague, said that the use of chemical weapons in Syria is “not something that a humane or civilized world can ignore.” Ironically, Western countries such as the UK and their allies have appeared to ignore the use of weapons that are equally vicious.
When “non-Westerners” make use of weapons of mass destruction, there is outrage and calls for military intervention from “the West,” but when “Westerners” themselves use them, it is totally permissible, and the world can hardly react.
Once the uranium particles are inhaled into the body, the particles attach first to the trachea and the respiratory system. As the particles are practically insoluble, they are difficult to dissolve in the blood, and stay there for a long period of time. Eventually these clinging particles continue to expose the neighboring organs to radiation. By that, they cause the cell and the gene to go into some transformation, and cause cancers, leukemia, lymphoma, congenital disorders and defects. Then, gradually, they are absorbed into the blood and lymph, and cause various illnesses and damages to the whole body. Also, aside from inhalation, they get into the body and enter the bloodstream by oral ingestion and through wounds. This kind of very dangerous weapons are being diffused in large quantity all over Iraq by the US and British troops. Not only during the war, but also after the war, and an unimaginable length of time of 4.5 billion years hereafter, the people of Iraq will have to bear the burden of living in this vast polluted land and learn how to survive with this grim reality. The British and US troops, at the instance that they drop DU weapons, do not just snatch away precious lives but cause the Iraqis further and eternal miseries.
Write your congressman and senator and ask them if this would be acceptable for their children.
