Donald Trumps full response to the news that the National Review has just devoted an entire issue against him stating that ‘Trump is a philosophically unmoored political opportunist who would trash the broad conservative ideological consensus within the GOP in favor of a free-floating populism with strong-man overtones.’
Trump responded by downplaying the National Review as a dying paper that no one reads anymore.

I think the Donald should start promoting his new green energy plan to make America energy independent. Tape some magnets to Bill Buckley’s elbows and surround his coffin with a copper coil. Just him spinning in his grave will generate enough electricity to counteract the force of all these supposed “conservatives”, who apparently believe that listening to your base is just wrong. I mean…..what don’t your average Republican voters understand?
Did they honestly think that just because they voted in a whole raft of GOP polticians who promised to rein things in, then almost immediately….to be fair, they had to wait a month or so, because Congress wasn’t in session….but still…..gave up not only everything the President wanted, but even more, in an unapologetic and grandiloquent burst of weak-kneed subservience to business as usual…that their duly elected socfluffersir were going to magically grow spines and represent them?!
How absurd of them. Apparentely we just don’t understand politics.
