For both movie lovers and non-movie lovers alike, it cannot be denied that certain movie lines have become part of modern pop culture and used by people in every day conversation. The following is a compilation of some of the top movie lines in history, along with a favorite that surprisingly didn’t make the list! Starpulse writes:
Classic movie characters have a long history of spouting great lines that fans find themselves repeating, but nothing makes a catchy phrase stick in the craw better than a little yelling. Meaning anyone can simply speak soft and carry a big stick, but it’s those who dare to be different by screaming loud for all to hear that get the cool quote job done. So to that end, this is a list dedicated to them – the bold and brave who took on sometimes simple lines and gave them a not so simple delivery that killed. “Can you dig it?” – The Warriors
What has become an iconic scene involving a meeting of twenty-one gangs all to hear the monologue thoughts of single idealistic and charismatic leader Cyrus (the great Roger Hill) in Walter Hill’s classic flick has some of the most memorable lines in movie history. But it’s the deep, penetrating and loud shouting delivery of the call to glory line “Can you dig it?” that puts the cool back in being schooled.

“Disappointed!” - A Fish Called Wanda
As a man who is short on wise words but quick on weapons, Kevin Kline’s hothead character Otto in the comedy “A Fish Called Wanda” says all the wrong things at the wrong time. With the exception of his single exclamation upon opening a safe during a double cross and finding the contents missing. One loud word – “Disappointed!”
“Everyone!” - The Professional
What must have looked small and simple on the page of the script for Luc Besson’s “The Professional,” an uber-talented actor like Gary Oldman relishes in exploiting. Frustrated by the slick moves of an unpredictable hitman, unstable and over-medicated cop Norman Stansfield asks his partner lackey to bring backup in the form of “Everyone!” – and clearly he doesn’t like to repeat himself.
“Good morning, Vietnam” - Good Morning, Vietnam
It’s the signature line that Robin Williams’ Adrian Cronauer would yell to begin his radio broadcasts while stationed in Saigon in 1965 during the Vietnam War. Cronauer is popular with the troops, but his superiors at the Armed Forces Radio Service would rather him tone things down quite a bit.
Not only is the line a classic, but the film’s soundtrack is second to none, with a wide range of hits from the era with Cronauer’s radio bits from the film peppered in between.
A source very close to Starpulse also tells us that of all the depictions of the Vietnam conflict that have been put on film, this one rings truest to what the situation was really like.

“Get to da choppa!” - Predator
One of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s most classic movie lines. The actor plays a special forces operative on a team sent to rescue another group from the jungle in Latin America when an unknown enemy begins picking them off one-by-one.
He yells the classic line while trying to get his team to safety.
“Attica, Attica…” - Dog Day Afternoon
Sonny Wortzik (Al Pacino) runs into all sorts of problems when he decides to turn to a life of crime and rob a Brooklyn bank. One mishap after another leads to a hostage situation and the police surrounding the building.
Sonny is He and his accomplice take customers and employees hostage when police arrive on the scene in the classic dramedy, and when he steps outside to negotiate the terms of a hostage release and to see just how many police are waiting to take him down he begins shouting, “Attica!”
Pacino ad-libbed the line in reference to the then recent 1971 prison riot at the Attica Correctional Facility in western New York. We’ll leave out the twist for now in case you haven’t seen the movie.
“Don’t give me the finger – I’ll f@cking have you killed!” - True Romance
Embodying the persona of a Hollywood prima donna producer, Sal Rubinek’s ego driven Lee Donowitz in the Quentin Tarantino penned “True Romance” is an entitled a-hole in every sense of the word. Exhibit A – his damning words yelled at a driver who has cut him off and flipped him bird in defiance. “Don’t give me the finger – I’ll f@cking have you killed!” – power has privileges.

Never has a single sentence in any teen angst flick been so succinct, honest and condemning as the frustrated utterance “You’re tearing me apart!” via the film “Rebel Without a Cause.” But the fact that it’s given heightened hubris by a top of his game James Dean as young adult Jim Stark would make even a person with ADD stop and take pause.

Building up all the energy and frustration of living under the shadow of another, Christian Bale’s psychotic Patrick Bateman stages a meticulous scene of murder to be carried out with patience and panache. But it’s when the talk of Huey Lewis ends and the metal axe swings that Bateman loses his cool and unleashes the jealous beast within. “Try getting a reservation at Dorsia now, you f@cking stupid bastard!” – fanatical food for thought.

Anything by R. Lee Ermey - Full Metal Jacket
Who better than an actual former drill instructor to play one on film?
That’s what happened when retired U.S. Marine Corps staff sergeant R. Lee Ermey landed his iconic role in Stanley Kubrick’s Vietnam War drama “Full Metal Jacket”.
Gunnery Sergeant Hartman (Ermey) is still quoted somewhere, by someone, every single day for the tactics he used to whip his men into shape to head off to war.
Unfortunately for one Private Leonard “Gomer Pyle” Lawrence (Vincent D’Onofrio), things didn’t end well.
“Cause she got a great ass and you got your head all the way up it!” - Heat
As a character, Al Pacino’s flamboyant criminal chasing career cop Vincent Hanna in “Heat” delivers a lot of his thoughts with gusto. But it’s the out of nowhere loud utterance of “Cause she got a great ass and you got your head all the way up it!” in response to a perp’s flippant question about being involved with a connected woman that brings Hanna’s darkly perverse and outlandish nature into the light.
“You want it – come and get it!” – No Escape
A total bitter badass to both authority and other common criminals, Ray Liotta’s tough guy with a past John Robbins in “No Escape” is a force to be reckoned with. But it’s the moment of belting out the battle cry “You want it – come and get it” to a horde of stampeding criminal soldiers that it becomes obvious nobody is going to take this guy down without a fight.
“Freedom!” - Braveheart
We all know what happens in Mel Gibson’s epic tale of Scottish warrior William Wallace, who helped lead the Scots in the First War of Scottish Independence against King Edward I of England.
While he leads many to battle, it isn’t until the very end, when he’s captured and tortured that he has one last word to say…
