(Before It's News)

When This Boat Crew Realized What They Were Seeing, It Was Almost Too Late To Escape

island 2

We don’t really think about it on a daily basis, but the Earth is still changing all the time. It just happens so slowly that we can’t really perceive it. But every now and then, things speed up… a lot.
Recently, the crew of the Maiken was enjoying a leisurely sail through the South Pacific when they spotted a strange discoloration on the water. They moved in closer to inspect it, but by the time they realized what it was, it was too late.

The crew of the Maiken was sailing the South Pacific when they spotted an unusual shadow.

1

As they got closer, what they had taken to be a sandbar revealed itself to be something else entirely.

2

A huge amount of pumice stone was floating to the surface of the water. It looked like a beach.

3

They decided to get a closer look and redirected their yacht towards it.

4

It looks like a beach in the middle of the ocean!

5

The crew decided to sail through it, leaving a break in the stone behind them as they went.

6

They wondered what could have caused this expanse of stone to suddenly appear.

7

The field of pumice was getting even larger as they passed through it. The crew had an uneasy feeling and upped their speed.

8

Once they were a safe distance away, they heard a faint rumbling. Looking back they saw water bubbling from the surface.

9

The source of the pumice stone was an underwater volcano that was actually erupting at the time!

10

They anchored to watch this tremendous event. Massive plumes of smoke filled the sky.

11

As the smoke cleared, they noticed something strange just at the water’s surface…

12

It was land!

13

The stunned crew couldn’t believe what they were seeing: It was the actual birth of a new island.

14

They sailed a little bit closer to see if their eyes were playing tricks on them.

15

But it was real. The peaks of this new land mass were already taking form.

16

It was one of the rarest events imaginable.

17

They were so lucky! Not only because they were able to witness such an impossible sight… but also because they apparently very narrowly escaped with their lives!

  • That’s pretty kick ass..

  • It’s weird that there’s this very tall structure in the last picture, but they make no mention of it. Is it even the same place?

    • Think lava eruption captured on camera !

    • Agree naomi cos when magma surfaces it’s still soft molten rock i think thats been photoshopped in, as this cant and does not happen. No solid objects ever come out of a volcano as everything is so hot its still a liquid and takes many hours to cool and harden . Even when its under the ocean. I do think the first land mass was produced though… Very lucky people on the boat.

    • Syx

I know right? I think it was some kind of entity rising out of the Sea floor! LOL! J/K BTW!

It is odd though, that this was not even mentined!??!?

      Trippy anyway…

      Syx…

  • Interesting pix could have been taken anywhere, not very useful without Lat and Long or gps

  • Naomi the structure is a lava plume you can see it better at the link.

  • awesome! thanks for sharing. wow.

  • Where is the video of this happening? They had enough money to bring along a solar powered thing on thier boat which can been seen in the picture. Where is the video of this? Only ever pictures…

    • And if they had taken video on a moving sailboat, it would have been all bumpy and jerky and you would have complained about that.

    • complain complain complain, lol hey ambrocious why dont u give me a call. You know who this is lol give me a call and lets CLAIM this island for ourselves. Noone owns it yet so lets sail their and TAKE IT! We will call it ( Garys Island ). lOL Once it cools down a bit we will pitch tents and Roast marshmallows and eat hotdogs, whatcha say, signed , Former Crowley Colorado Resident.

  • Don’t know about this happening in the South Pacific ???

But it happened in the South Sea of Japan a few months and the volcanic island is still growing…

I recall something later on about a second island appearing from the depths close by ?!!

There are a lot of undersea volcanoes. Perhaps one million. An estimated 75,000 rise a kilometer or more from the sea floor.

Heat from undersea volcanoes is a possible cause of El Nino events. Based on observed plumes of warm water.

Under-ice volcanoes produced the melting, in West Antarctica. Under sea volcanoes in the Arctic Ocean produced polar ice loss there, look at articles from 2008. And remember, warm water rises by convection.

  • You guys sure had more than luck on your side. This is a crazy thing to witness, not a lot of people get to have that luck.

  • Bet you my popcorn bucket China has built a military installation on one side and Japan has slammed a nuclear plant on the far side beach before sundown.
