Toronto, Canada, February 8, 2016 – Cable Wine Systems (www.CableWineSystems.com),creators of the most versatile and sophisticated wine racking system on the market, is reacting to the impact the warm Canadian winter is having on icewine production.

Canada is experiencing one of the warmest winters on record. That would lead some to believe that the icewine production has suffered, but the Wine Marketing Association of Ontario hasreported that the production has actually been typical. Though final figures have not yet been reported, wine producers notify the Vintners Quality Alliance (VQA) in the fall about the amount of icewine that is expected to be produced. Pillitteri Estates Winery, a Canadian distillery located in the Niagara region that distributes to the U.K.,says that the icewine yield this year is greater than in 2014.

“A lot of experts would assume that icewine yields would be down due to the warm weather we’ve been experiencing in Canada and throughout most of the northeast,” says Janice Bednarz, general manager of Cable Wine Systems. “But this is good news. It’s great for wine drinkers across the country to know they’ll still be getting the same quality and amount of icewine.”

German icewine producers are looking at a yield slightly more unpredictable and only small quantities were brought in early in the winter season. However, with conditions cooling down, they are expecting the second half of the winter to be better.

“Although it’s normal for countries to compete against one another for taste and quality of wine,it’s good to see that Germany didn’t take too big of a hit with the warmer weather, as well,”Bednarz continues. “I think icewine drinkers around the world will be pleased in both cases.”
