The city of Homs was at the heart of the revolt against Assad in 2011, and was one of the first urban areas to be overrun by the Syrian rebels. It was a stronghold for the FSA for several years, and was under siege by the Syrian Army until very recently. So what does four years of war do to a city?

A Russian state media outlet recently flew a drone over Homs, and captured the eerie devastation. Homs is pretty much a ghost town now. It looks like the aftermath of a nuclear blast. What was once a bustling metropolitan area with a population of 800,000 people, is now an empty shell of its former self.
